Warranty
Backed by a 1-Year Workmanship Warranty
Completed installation work carried out by Texas Timber Fence is covered by a 1-year limited workmanship warranty, running from the completion date recorded on your project. This page summarises that coverage. The written warranty terms supplied with your project are the controlling document.
Warning: Draft wording — legal review required
What the warranty covers
The limited warranty covers defects in the workmanship of the installation we performed, for one year from the recorded completion date of the project.
That means the way the fence was built: how posts were set, how the framing was assembled, how pickets and hardware were fastened, and how gates were hung and adjusted at handover.
If something we built has failed because of how it was built, we want to know. Contact us with your project reference, a description of the problem, when you first noticed it, and photographs.
How wood behaves
Wood is a natural material and it moves. The following are normal characteristics of wood, not workmanship defects, and they are not covered by this warranty:
- shrinking, swelling and seasonal movement with humidity;
- small gaps opening between pickets as the wood dries;
- checking, splitting and surface cracking;
- warping, cupping, twisting and bowing of individual boards;
- knots, colour variation and grain differences;
- weathering and colour change, including cedar turning silver-grey;
- raised grain and surface roughness over time.
Manufactured components such as fasteners and gate hardware may carry their own manufacturer warranty. Any such warranty is provided by the manufacturer, not by Texas Timber Fence.
What is not covered
This limited warranty does not cover:
- damage caused by storms, high wind, hail, lightning, flooding or standing water;
- damage caused by impact, including vehicles, equipment, falling trees or falling limbs;
- damage caused by ground movement, soil expansion or contraction, erosion or subsidence;
- damage caused by fire;
- damage caused by animals, insects or plant growth;
- damage caused by irrigation or sprinklers directed at the fence;
- damage caused by pressure washing, chemicals, stains or coatings applied by others;
- alterations, additions, repairs or modifications made by anyone other than Texas Timber Fence;
- attachments added to the fence, including gates, panels, screening, planters, lighting and pet enclosures;
- normal wear, including hardware requiring periodic adjustment;
- work performed on an existing structure that we did not build;
- materials supplied by the customer;
- consequential or indirect losses of any kind;
- any project where the agreed scope of work was not completed.
Repairs carried out on an existing fence are covered only to the extent of the specific repair performed, and only where the surrounding structure was sound.
Your responsibilities
To keep this warranty in effect, the property owner is responsible for:
- keeping irrigation and sprinklers directed away from the fence;
- maintaining drainage so that water does not stand against posts or pickets;
- keeping vegetation from growing into or against the fence;
- carrying out reasonable maintenance, including periodic cleaning and reapplication of stain or sealer;
- not attaching structures or loads to the fence that it was not designed to carry;
- reporting a suspected defect promptly rather than allowing it to worsen;
- providing safe access to the fence so that it can be inspected.
How to make a request
To make a warranty request:
- Complete the warranty request form on this website, or contact us directly.
- Provide your project reference, the property address, and your contact details.
- Describe the issue and state when you first noticed it.
- Attach photographs that show the problem clearly, including a wider view of the affected section.
- Tell us whether any other contractor has worked on or modified the fence.
- Tell us whether a storm, impact, flood, ground movement or other external event occurred.
We will confirm that we have received the request and tell you what happens next.
Inspection and coverage decision
Submitting a request does not confirm coverage.
After a request is received, we review the information supplied and, where necessary, arrange to inspect the fence. Coverage is decided by a person after that review — it is never decided automatically and it is never decided by a form.
We will tell you whether the issue is covered under the written warranty terms and, if it is, what we propose to do about it. If it is not covered, we will explain why, and we can quote for the repair separately.
Need to report a problem?
Submitting a request does not confirm coverage. Texas Timber Fence must inspect and review the issue under the written warranty terms.
