Fence Post Replacement

Replacement of rotted, snapped or leaning posts without rebuilding the whole fence.

A worker setting a new fence post into the ground along an existing fence line.

About fence post replacement

Posts fail before pickets do. When a run of fence leans, the fix is often a small number of posts rather than the whole line.

We identify which posts have failed, replace them, and re-secure the adjoining panels. Where the old footing has to come out, that is described in the estimate rather than discovered later.

Scope

What is included, and what to think about

Typical inclusions

  • Inspection of the affected fence run
  • Removal of the failed post and, where required, its footing
  • Setting of the replacement post
  • Re-attachment of rails and pickets to the new post
  • Removal of replaced material from the work area

Practical considerations

Things that genuinely affect the work, said plainly before you commit.

  • Removing old concrete footings can be slow and can disturb nearby landscaping.
  • Adjacent posts may be found to be failing once work begins.
  • A newly set post needs time before the panel is put under full load.
  • New post material will not match weathered wood in colour.
