Fence Gate Installation

New walk gates and drive gates built to match the fence line.

A pair of stained wood gates hung on a brick opening, with a metal drop latch.

About fence gate installation

A gate is the part of a fence that moves, so it takes the most abuse. Gate posts, bracing and hardware need to suit the gate width, the weight of the material and how often the gate will be used.

We size the posts and hardware to the gate rather than treating it as another fence panel, and the estimate says what hardware is included.

Scope

What is included, and what to think about

Typical inclusions

  • Gate opening measurement
  • Gate post setting
  • Gate frame construction and bracing
  • Hinges, latch and stop hardware as specified
  • Hanging and adjustment

Practical considerations

Things that genuinely affect the work, said plainly before you commit.

  • Wide gates are heavier and place more load on posts and hardware.
  • Ground slope at the opening affects gate swing and clearance.
  • Wood gates move seasonally and may need periodic adjustment.
  • Automation and access control are not part of this service.

Questions

Fence Gate Installation: frequently asked

Not covered here? Ask us directly — we would rather answer it before you commit than after.

What hardware do you use on gates?

Gate hardware is selected to suit the width and weight of the specific gate rather than applied as a default. The hardware included is listed in your written estimate.
